Derby Split Toe grey patina, grey camo patina

The Split Toe is an exceptionally versatile wardrobe staple. Essentially a derby with a so-called apron and then a vertical stitch at the tip of the toe. A classic design that works dressed-up or down, just as any other derby. However, because of the front stitching, it might tend a bit toward the casual.

The Derby Split Toe, a brief description

The Split Toe is an exceptionally versatile wardrobe staple. Essentially a derby with a so-called apron and then a vertical stitch at the tip of the toe. A classic design that works dressed-up or down, just as any other derby. However, because of the front stitching, it might tend a bit toward the casual.

Blake Stitched By Hand

This style is constructed using the Blake method. It’s characterized by a double binding (blake and rapid, precisely): while the first attaches upper, lining and insole; the second one secures the insole and outside sole together. The shoes are therefore easy to resole, and have greater flexibility.

Full Calf Lined Interior

These shoes are fully-lined with soft calfskin leather, which means ultimate comfort. Most companies will only partially line their shoes, but we go the extra mile because it means a more comfortable shoe and less break-in time.

What is MTO Standard Production?

Made-to-Order shoes are entirely produced on demand, strictly following your design instructions. After a purchase is made, the shoes begin their production journey. From material hand cutting, to the sole being stitched to the upper. Every part of the shoe is individually produced and assembled just for your order. It takes our artisans between 3 and 6 weeks to produce a pair of Made-to-Order shoes. Please, remember this when placing your order.

Hand Painted Patina

High-grade unfinished crust leather is hand painted by our artisans at the patina workshop.

With attentive care and superior savoir-faire, a dedicated craftsman perfects the personality of each pair of shoes, helping forge their special “soul”.

The Zurigo Shoe Last

This style is produced using our most famous shoe last, which features a round toe for a classic english look. The Zurigo last is a perfect choice for either a casual look or a more contemporary shape to wear with formal clothes. The classic fit and slight almond toe creates a beautiful last with a timeless and versatile shape.

Entirely cut by hand

The Clicking Department is the first stage of production. The highly skilled Clickers (whose name derives from the ‘click’ sound made when the knife is removed from the leather) use predetermined patterns to intricately cut the shoe’s uppers and linings. Each Clicker design and grind the blade of their knife to their own personal taste and working preference.
